Smithereens

Formed in Cork in 2024, Smithereens are a five-piece band blending jazz, rock and grunge into a sound that is both technically accomplished and intensely energetic. Since emerging onto the Irish music scene, they have quickly built a reputation as one of the country’s most exciting new live acts.

Their debut album, Emergency Entrance (2024), made an immediate impact, earning a devoted following and leading to sold-out performances across Ireland. Highlights include headline shows at Live at St. Luke’s, The Kino, and performances beyond Ireland, including Next Door Records in London.

Smithereens have also appeared at a number of leading festivals, including Féile Solas, Forbidden Fruit, Guinness Cork Jazz Festival and Clonakilty International Guitar Festival. Their distinctive sound combines sophisticated jazz harmony and musicianship with angular guitar work, distorted textures and the raw energy of grunge, creating a live experience that is both unpredictable and exhilarating.

With growing attention from publications such as Banjaxed Media and NuMuze, Smithereens continue to establish themselves as one of Ireland’s most compelling young bands.
