Lana Lanza is a graduate of the renowned Fashion Institute of Technology. She has a degree in design with over 15 years of industry experience in a variety of fashion categories. Lana is leading a beginners sewing workshop. The classes will be held over 4 consecutive weeks starting March 29- April 19. Since April 20th is Easter, we will host a make-up class for anyone who cannot make the April 19th class.
Tuition:
-$100 per person per session, 4 Sessions for $400 or -$80 per person per session, 4 sessions for $320, if you bring your own fabric (3yards)
-4 students max per class ages 10 and up.
-There will be 2 time slots to choose from the AM/PM -
10:30am-12:30pm (AM)
-1:30pm-3:30pm (PM)
Classes will be located in the lower level of Melita's Home Furnishings.

What will be provided:
-Sewing Machines and some materials will be provided
-Muslin will be the main fabric for the first class.
-For Classes 2-4, please bring any large scrap fabrics you may have to make your tote bag. The size of your tote will be determined by the dimensions of the scrap fabric that you bring. The circular skirt and shirt will need 2.5-3 yards total.
**If you want to bring your own fabric, there will be a $20 reduction in the price.
-Bringing your own trimmings or fabric scraps is encouraged to bring out your own personality to your creations.
-Along with the physical project you will get a printout of instructions from the day. This will allow you to look back on a detailed overview, if you want to go through the lesson at another time.

CLASS 1: Stitching 2h March 29,2025 Introduction to sewing - Threading machine - Variety of stitches - ¼", ½", ¾", ⅞" and 1/2" - Hem stitch - Circular stitch - French Seam Stitch - Introduction to ruler - Introduction to the tape measurer - Explanation of importance of following the grain line - Explanation of gentle use of machine - Mock up for tote bag
CLASS 2: Tote Bag 2h April 5, 2025 - Refreshing memory by making a few straight stitches -Cutting out dimensions of tote bag by using ruler - Sewing the tote bag - If there is remaining time the totes can be decorated with fabric paint or pieces of fabrics. - Use fabric glue - Lace flowers cut out - Beads sewn in - Stencils and Acrylics
CLASS 3: Circular Skirt 2h April 12, 2025 - Giving print outs on how to measure yourself - Applying measurements on the fabric -Sewing circular skirt
CLASS 4: Sewing a Top 2h April 19, 2025
Makeup date April 26, 2025 - Introduction to Pattern - Showing example - Students can practice measuring each other. - Following Step by step guideline -Sewing the top
