


Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire
A 12th-century timber-framed inn whose deeds — recorded in
Norman French at the Gloucester Records Office — describe it
as dating "to Time Immemorial." It stands on the site of a
reputed Bronze Age settlement and pagan burial ground, beside
St Mary's Church, and is the oldest building in the town.
Beams here date to 1465.
Owned by the Humphries family since 1968 and featured on
Most Haunted, the Ancient Ram Inn is widely described as one
of the most haunted buildings in Britain.
