Some histories live in books. Others still echo through the mountains.
On May 13th, Friar Tuck's Historical Series welcomes Tim O'Brien of the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum for an evening exploring the story of the railroad that once connected, transformed, and defined Nevada County.
For more than four decades, Tim O'Brien has dedicated himself to preserving the history of Nevada County's railroad. His work with the museum has helped keep the stories, artifacts, and legacy of the railroad alive for future generations.
Long before highways cut through the Sierra, the railroad carried miners, families, supplies, dreams, and entire communities through these hills. It shaped the economy of the region, changed the rhythm of daily life, and left traces that still exist beneath our feet today.
