Inspired by the Japanese traditions of Kintsugi and Suminagashi, this reflective art workshop is led by Hila Agami, The 8 Project’s Residency Program Manager and a former Educational Officer in the Israel Defense Forces.

Through Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with visible seams, you’ll reflect on moments that have shaped you before carefully transforming a broken ceramic piece into a meaningful keepsake symbolizing resilience, growth, and renewal.

The workshop also introduces Suminagashi, the traditional Japanese art of floating ink on water to create delicate, organic patterns. The process invites you to slow down, focus on the present moment, and embrace the beauty of unpredictability. Through the gentle movement of water, ink, and breath, Suminagashi offers a meditative space for reflection, intuitive creativity, and letting go of the need for perfection—creating room for new ideas and personal expression to emerge.

You’ll create your own Suminagashi artwork and use it to make a personal reflection card, such as a gratitude, intention, or manifestation card—a small visual reminder to carry the themes of the workshop with you.
