Scustin are one of Ireland’s most talked-about emerging live acts, carving out their own genre which they proudly describe as “Post-Funk.” Combining sharp-witted storytelling, infectious grooves and a jazzy, funk-infused take on indie rock, the band delivers a sound that is both uniquely Irish and impossible to stand still to.
Their music blends observational humour and everyday characters with danceable rhythms, creating songs that are as entertaining as they are musically compelling. As the band puts it, their sound is what might happen if Blindboy, Mike Skinner and Jamiroquai went for a boozy night out in Bray and ended up making a record together.
With a rapidly growing following and a reputation for energetic, crowd-pleasing performances, Scustin have become one of the most exciting names in Ireland’s new wave of alternative music.
Scustin play Block Party at Bank Lane, Waterford, on Saturday 25 July.
Admission is free.
